We all love a delicious, hot clambake served in a Sunday get-together with family and friends. But the real question is, what do you actually pair with this dish? It’s already a cornucopia of seafood: clams, mussels, lobsters, shrimps and what-nots. What else can you add to make the feast more memorable and delightful? Well, we have prepared a clambake menu for you just to share our choice of side dishes. Check this out!
This is not your usual corn on the cob. It’s spicy. It’s refreshing. It’s really good. Combine paprika, garlic, lime, jalapeno and butter in your food processor. Process the ingredients until smooth then store it in the freezer. Grill your corns and once they’re ready, place slices of the butter on top. Yummy!
You don’t want your guests to only eat seafood. Serve them a classic Boston baked beans dish made even more flavorful with molasses, pepper, dry mustard, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and salt. Just take care not to let it get too dry or it won’t be impressive at all.
Instead of grilling your linguica sausages just as is, coarsely grate soft cheese (jack gouda, mozzarella, etc.) and sprinkle it on the cut side of the meat when they’re almost cooked. The cheese will melt and bubble, giving your sausages texture and more flavor.
Peel your potatoes, cut them into large chunks then boil them in a saucepan. Once they’re tender, roughly mash them all. Add your hot milk and butter, salt and pepper to taste. Beat the mixture with a spatula until it’s fluffy.
Cook your small white onions (peeled) in Chardonnay, thyme, salt and bay leaf. Let the wine simmer for 25 minutes with constant stirring. Then pour a cup of heavy cream (for whipping). Let the liquid boil and reduce until it thickens. Add butter, stir and serve.
Just to veer away from the creamy, buttery taste of the dishes, add a refreshing slaw to your menu. Cut your green cabbage into an inch long and char the greens in your favorite skillet using high heat. This will give the veggie a smoky flavor. When it’s already cool, add pistachios, fennel bulb, jalapeno, segments of oranges, parsley, black olives and extra virgin coconut oil. Of course you may add salt and pepper to taste.
Well, we know this isn’t a side dish. But just in case you have friends who are allergic to seafood, then they’ll still have another treat to enjoy. Make a delectable whole chicken roast in your La Caja China with pepper, sprigs, thyme, garlic, lemon, butter, onion and fennel. That’s pure awesomeness!
