Baked beans will never go out of style — especially if it’s Texan! Simply brown some ground beef in a skillet, drain the fat and then let it set. In a slow cooker, combine the ground beef, baked beans, barbecue sauce and green chiles. Season with chili powder, brown sugar, garlic powder and pepper sauce to taste. Cook for about 2 hours on high heat or for about 4 to 5 hours on low heat.
Mashed potatoes are a staple in every barbecue party — as a side dish, of course. You have to peel and dice your potatoes, making sure that they’re the same size. Put them potatoes in a large saucepan, add some salt to taste and then make sure that they’re covered with water. Turn the stove or cooktop to medium high heat and bring the water to a boil. Cook your potatoes until they easily fall apart with the use of a fork. In another saucepan, heat the garlic and some half-and-half over medium heat. Set the mixture aside once done. Remove your boiled potatoes from the stove and drain the water. Mash them all up and then combine with the garlic mixture. Add some Parmesan cheese and stir vigorously to distribute the flavors. Let it the mashed potato stand for about 5 minutes before serving.
If you’re not a fan of mashed potato or rice, then you should try this summer pasta recipe. To prepare this dish, simply rinse your boiled pasta with cold water. Make sure that it is drained well. Then in a bowl, combine it with shredded chicken, squash, zucchini, parsley and nectarines. Pour your lime vinaigrette while stirring the ingredients gently. Finally, add salt and pepper then sprinkle with toasted sliced almonds.
In a baking sheet, toss some sweet potatoes and oil then season with salt and pepper. Roast the potatoes in an oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Toss them once only and roast until tender. In a food processor, pulse your parsley, cilantro, thyme, oregano and garlic. When they are finely chopped, slowly add some oil and vinegar then season with salt and pepper. Serve the sweet potatoes with the chimichurri sauce.
How this is a classic! Grill your corn over medium heat for approximately 12 minutes. Brush them with melted butter then sprinkler them with cheese. To give your corns a kick, sprinkle with paprika, too. Add salt to taste and then serve with lime.
If you love Southern-style mac and cheese, try this recipe. Microwave your milk at high mode for a minute and a half. Afterward, melt some butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Whisk in your flour until it becomes smooth. Let the mixture cook while stirring. Then, whisk your milk in slowly while stirring constantly. Let the mixture cook for another 5 minutes until it thickens. Once done, whisk in your salt, black pepper, red pepper and shredded cheese. Mix in the pasta afterward and stir gently. Transfer the pasta in a greased baking dish and then top with the remaining cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
